Blanket Creek Pottery
I established Blanket Creek Pottery in the fall of 2001 in a garage in the countryside of Kentucky after a two-year apprenticeship that began in the summer of 1999. It was a one-person studio until 2014 when joined by my wife, Yael Neeman-Borian. Yael came to Kentucky as part of a nature photography trip, taking a break from wedding and studio photography. She had some prior experience with pottery and wanted to further develop her skills. She learned quickly and soon decided to make a career out of ceramic design and photography. While working together we realized that we are a match in every way. We got married and now run the business together in total cooperation, expanding the original Blanket Creek brand. I do most of the production work, including wheel throwing, glazing and firing; while Yael manages the product and glaze development, photography and website development. We constantly work to increase our offering, endeavoring to produce new lines of unique glazes and shapes that combine aesthetics with functionality. This product is handmade from start to finish in our studio, which doubles as a shelter to six cats and two dogs rescued over the years. Each piece is unique, and the slight variations in size and glaze are part of what makes this pottery special.
